Welcome to the West Valley Eagles Track and Field Club, Inc.

The Eagles are a non-profit 501 C-3 youth athletic organization dedicated to helping youth of all skill levels fight childhood obesity, be physically fit, pursue positive goals, and reach higher levels of achievement.

The Eagle's History

For 48 years, the West Valley Eagles Track and Field Club's primary goal has been to motivate and challenge youth to reach higher levels of achievement, and to channel their energies in a positive way.

Founded in 1971 by Dave Hann with just a couple of coaches and a handful of youth, the West Valley Eagles have evolved into one of the most respected and talented youth sports programs in America. The Eagles routinely have more athletes than any other conference team representing the Conference All-Star Team at the USA Track and Field Age Group Nationals and Junior Olympic Championships. It is through these national competitions that the Eagles are recognized as one of the top Track & Cross-Country Clubs in the United States. With dedicated volunteer coaches, supportive parents, generous sponsors, and motivated athletes, the West Valley Eagles Track and Field Club has helped thousands of our community youth soar.

Renowned Eagle Athletes

The Eagles have been a launching point for many world-class track and field athletes as well as Olympic and World Championship medal winners, including Allyson Felix, Quincy Watts, Joanna Hayes, Inger Miller, Tyree Washington, Deena Drossin Kastor and Alysia Johnson-Montano.  These past Eagle Greats have brought back to America 13 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze Olympic Medals.  (Would you believe, that of the 200 plus Countries that have competed in Track & Field at the Olympics since 1896, only 16 Countries have accumulated more than 13 Gold Medals).

In the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials, nine former Eagles participated.  One of these athletes, Quincy Watts, advanced to win two Gold medals, set two Olympic records and one World record at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.  In the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta Georgia, former Eagle Inger Miller finished 4th in the 200-meter dash and won a Gold Medal on the 4 X 100-meter relay team.  In 1997 at the World Championships in Athens, Greece, the United States led the world with 18 medals. Past Eagles great Tyree Washington returned home with three gold medals and one bronze medal.

In the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, past Eagle/Comet Deena Drossin Kastor competed in both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs.  Deena is the past American record holder in both the 10,000 meters and the Marathon.  She was also a silver medalist at the 2002 and 2003 World Cross Country Championships.

Six past Eagles athletes competed in the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trails and four went on to compete in the 2008 Olympics held in Greece: Joanna Hayes, gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles; Allyson Felix, silver medal in the 200 meters; and Deena Drossin Kastor, bronze medal in the Marathon.

In the 2012 Olympics in London England, Allyson Felix won Gold in the 200 meters, the 4 X 400-meter relay and on the World Record setting 4 X 100-meter relay.  At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Allyson won Silver in the 400 meters and Gold in both the 4 X100 and 4 X 400-meter relays, bringing her total Gold Olympic Medals to six – the most for any women competing at the Olympics.  In the 2017 World Championships in London, Allyson won two more Gold and one Bronze Medal bringing her total of Gold Medals at the World Championships to 11, tying her with Usain Bolt and her total number of Medals to 16 the most for any athlete at the World Championships.  She truly is the all-time World's greatest female runner!
